What We Do
Jump into the Arts encourages and empowers people of all ages and ability levels to “do the art that’s in their heart”! We believe that all people have certain gifts and talents through which they can express the Lord’s character and Word to the world around them, in tangible and intangible ways. All people can express their God-given creativity and artistry through some kind of material or environment – for example, potters work with clay, painters create with acrylic paint and canvas, culinary artists use cooking utensils and food, teachers connect ideas and learners, and accountants work with numbers. No matter what kind of media you prefer to use, we encourage you to do the art that’s in your heart!
Jump into the Arts uses the following avenues to encourage people of all ages to express their God-given creativity: products; conferences, events, and small group gatherings hosted by Jump into the Arts and other organizations; and various forms of communication and media. Please take a look at our Products page or contact us via our Contact Us page on this website for more information about what we do! ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Jump into the Arts was founded by Dr. Hilary Burg to encourage people of all ages and ability levels to do the art that’s in their heart! Hilary Burg received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver in Colorado, and her doctoral dissertation focused on the experiences of families who participate in the visual, performing, and creative arts, including the benefits that they receive through engagement in the arts. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies in Colorado, Hilary served primarily as a fifth and sixth grade teacher in southern California, and also mentored student teachers and new teachers in their first and second years of teaching. As a classroom teacher, Hilary noticed the powerful influence of the arts in bringing about individual transformation along with beneficial changes in family dynamics. Hilary has experienced multiple benefits from participating in the arts in her own life, and has engaged in a variety of artistic experiences including clarinet, flute, piano, guitar, and voice lessons; tole painting, stained glass, leather tooling, scrapbooking, calligraphy, and other visual art classes; various acting and improvisation experiences; and ballet, jazz, hiphop, lyrical, salsa, swing, country western, and Israeli folk dancing lessons.
